The Wingate anaerobic test is a mechanical exercise bike used to measure the production of the body's immediate and short-term energy systems. The Wingate involves 30 seconds of maximal cycling to determine an individual's maximal power during a full-force, short-term physical effort. Analyzing peak power, average power, total work, and an individual's fatigue rate can help determine maximum performance. Relevant for: Volleyball, Hockey, Football

RENEW stands for Resources, Education, Nutrition, Exercise, Wellness and is run by Windsor Regional Hospital’s cancer program and the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Human Kinetics. In the RENEW Exercise Program, participants work with specially trained fitness instructors to help them regain strength and confidence. Sessions are held in the Toldo Lancer Centre. Thanks to the generous support of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation and its donors, participants pay a subsidized fee of $40 for their first 10-week session. Participants attend two, 60-minute exercise sessions each week. Classes include light to moderate strengthening and toning exercises. Classes are led by specially trained instructors who have received Cancer and Exercise Training for Health Professionals certification from THRIVE Health Services (University of Calgary). Exercises are modified to allow participants to work at their own pace and meet their personal goals.

The UWorkItOut UWin program is a collaborative effort between the Department of Kinesiology’s SPPARC (Sport Psychology & Physical Activity Research Collaborative) Lab, the CHPH, and UWindsor’s Student Counselling Centre. The program helps low-risk sedentary students improve their mental health, increase their participation in physical activity, and foster positive lifestyle changes. Each participant is paired with a dedicated personal trainer that guides them through exercises and advises them on implementing positive lifestyle changes. Additionally, each participant is given a counselling session every week. The program has been shown to decrease feelings of anxiety and depression in participants, and increase their confidence, motivation, and coping abilities.
